Housing starts are down considerably since the housing bust. That's not a surprise to anyone, because the economics don't support building at this time. But it's not too hard to imagine the demand for new homes being unmet in the coming years, leading CNN Money to ask Is a housing shortage coming?
Honestly, it's not something I'm losing sleep over. But there is a segment of the population that prefers buying new homes to used (not unlike the prevalence of those preferring new cars to used). That's why I'll probably resume developing homes in the future, as before, via Van Zanten & White Development. But not quite yet. - David
